A Point of View: The Iraqi Children in The Iraq War

In times of panic, it may seem that many things go left un-noticed. To me, it is the children in Iraq. It is a constant battle that they have to endure in each day, not knowing what is going on, just being told, "Dont worry, everything is going to be fine. You just need to be strong for right now."

Children in Iraq are the most innocent and pure people in this terrorist country right now. They have not made any decisions, they have not set off some random bomb in the middle of the town. They are the new generation, so someone needs to make sure that they learn from the getco, right from wrong.
This is a true war story. There are no morals that go along to this; it is really a reminder of the reality. We need to save the children in Iraq.

In the United States our brothers and sisters, neighbors, neices, cousins, and kids are most likely being put through an education, are always provided with food and shelter. They are learning the rules of life, and how to succeed. Without any boundaries or giving a child any limits, the facts now show that disaster can come from it. You don't believe it? Well, I am going to tell you and show you this painful truth.

Exhibit A. Do you know a kid who plays with a gun in the middle of the street?

NO! One of the many problems is that so many people in Iraq have guns. They say, it is to protect there safety. However, if everyone has a gun then everyone is going to think they are fine, the usual. Guns are dangerous, studies show that when children first find, or buy a gun, 1:3 seriously injure themselves. The term, injure, can range from shooting someone in the finger to death.

I dont believe that it is the kids fault that they have guns, it is the parents. It is hard to say that there are many good people in Iraq, when they can see things on the street, like this, happen each day. Something needs to change. This is not a game. Guns should only be used by trained professionals, like the Army, no exceptions.
Exhibit B. The damage that has been done to these kids mentally and physically. I created this children war collage to show you to what extent I am speaking about.
The girl in the upper right hand corner, her name is Eliza. She had just seen her father get shot. The story says that the two of them were just walking around the corner to her friends house when a terrorist came out of no where and shot him twice, to death. Once in the chest, and once in the head.
The girl in the center, only three years old, is now blind in one eye. She was with her family in the market while a car bomb nearby set off. Her brother is told to be dead by the impact of the flames and glass from the car.
Of course all these pictures in this collage have a story but the point is that, you don't hear about this everyday in the U.S. These are just children. They never saw it coming. It just makes no sense why they have to suffer for someone elses actions.
Exhibit C. They have seen, what the everyday person would had never imagined. Most people in there lifetime will not see a person killed, shot, or beaten to death before there eyes. The U.S. Army took a survey, in 2004, about the children that they come upon in Iraq. They found out that 2:5 kids have a seen a person be killed in some type of accident.
I'm very thankful for the Army. Not only have they saved America, but they are saving these Iraq children. They are showing them the light, and that someone does care about there safety. The Army has the same vision as me about creating a new, kind, safe generation with these Iraqi kids. I mean they will soon become our next great political leaders. One of the many things that I have learned is that the Army does hangs out with some of these kids while they are "off the clock". On the U.S. Army site, they speak of what great futures and dreams some of these children have. "They are driven and are not going to have someone stand in there way. They have already dealt with so many obstacles." says Soldier T. Richardson. "Just by having a conversation, you can make a difference. "
We need peace. The country of Iraq is such a small part of the world and it has already caused all of this caos. It could be so easy if every country could unify into a team, to help save this country from the terrorists. Innocent people are dieing from the U.S., Iraq, and now even children. People need to find the good inside of them and make a change, or who knows what may happen. These Iraqi kids are motivated after all that has happened to them, and it is our job to show them the way. Lets help them out, it is the least we can do.
